Frog Dissection
Description
We dissected a frog to look at and label its organs. It had random pigments in its skin, and I mean colors. Bright pink, blue, orange. It was weird and disgusting.
Procedure
We cut the underbelly of the frog to expose all the organs to our disgusted stares. We answered all the questions about its anatomy, where things were located, what each thing was, and what its function was.
Materials
Weird Colored Frog
Probe
Tweezers
Scissors
Scalpel
Pins
Tray
Conclusion/Analysis
This dissection was by far the most disgusting and smelly one yet. The fat on the inside looked like little fingers that made me a little sick. The frog had little spots of random color, like pink and blue. It looked really weird to me, and it was nasty. It was hard, which bother me a lot. It smelled worst of all the dissections.
Ecology
Frogs live near bodies of water, usually something shallow. They can live both on land and in water. Frogs can absorb oxygen through their skin, which is how they can live underwater. They lay eggs underwater, which, when hatched, can only remain underwater until they are an actual frog instead of a tadpole. They use mating calls and body language to attract a mate. Organisms that breathe through their skin are ectothermic. They can also be bright colored to tell predators that they are not safe to eat.
Comparative Structure & Function
Frogs are a sexually reproducing species that belong to phyla Anura. They have radial symmetry, mostly live in water, and even have teeth. They have present circulatory, respiratory, excretory, and digestive systems.
